Managed DNS
DNS is necessary for any server, which usually means configuring BIND, keeping abreast of new bugs, and patching when necessary. Instead, you can use Aktiom's DNS servers and let us manage it for you.
Of course, you aren't required to use our DNS service. You may prefer to set up your own custom solution.
Failover DNS and Email
The DNS standard says that every domain needs a primary and secondary server. Instead of managing your own secondary DNS server, we'll let you use an offsite Aktiom server.
If you take advantage of our offsite MX server, new email will be routed to the server in the event your VPS is offline. When your primary email server is back up, the waiting queue is delivered and messages aren't lost.
Redundant Data Storage
Most dedicated servers have a single hard drive, meaning your data is lost if the drive crashes. All Aktiom VPSs run on top of fault-tolerant RAID-10 arrays. Your data and VPS stay intact even if a hard drive fails.
To protect you against a hacker breaking in and destroying data, we make a full copy of your server to a separate RAID array, every week. We run incremental backups on the other days, giving you a time buffer to recover files.
